Budapest in 40 hours.
Stay: District 5 in Pest is close to everything you need. Rent/airbnb an apartment or stay at the Hilton Budapest.
Eat: For authentic (and reasonably priced food) you must try Goulash, Langos and Chimney Cake at either Hungarikum Bisztró or Karavan Budapest on Kazinczy street before you…
Drink/Party: Szimpla Kert, Budapests first “ruin” bar on Kazinczy street - very relaxed, cool and kitsch. See: You have to see Buda Castle and Fisherman’s Bastian (they views are beautiful - treat yourself to a cocktail/beer at the restaurant up top to soak it in) and walk the bridges in this city.
Experience: Walk the city on foot (and visit both sides) or hire a Segway/Scooter! Also do a boat cruise on the Danube to see the city at night.
Vibe: it’s a gritty city with an underground vibe and I loved it.
*on a Friday/Saturday. It was rainy weather when we went and all the above were fine.
