Stand-up Comedy set

6 months ago if you’d asked me what one of my greatest fears was, I’d tell you it was stand-up comedy. Why? Because unlike scripted screen, stand-up requires you to show up in all of your vulnerabilities and not only connect with (generally a large) audience instantly, but make them laugh. Make. Them. All. Laugh. One of the hardest things to fathom. My family will tell you that ever since I was born I was a performer, and my friends will tell you I’ve been funny since they can remember - but putting it all together in a set for strangers is an art in itself. An art in storytelling, which ultimately is what I’m here to do in many forms - acting, writing, speaking, performing, all of it. It’s also an opportunity to share different points of view through humour, that can be a vehicle to relate in unity. Thank you @kruharale for teaching me the craft, @australiansouthasiancentre for giving me the opportunity, @brownwomencomedy for taking me in as your own and the INCREDIBLE women I got to do this with week after week. It was a room full of joy and promise, and a room I’ll never forget and well overdue in this space. Things are happening. And it appears @sydneycomedyfestival was not a fluke. I am a comedian now. I will forever be a learner. Do the thing that’s uncomfortable. Do the thing you never thought you could. Do the thing that scares you. You can do it.
